National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, (NIEPMD), is being established at Muttukadu, Kancheepuram district, Tamilnadu, by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to fulfill the objective of servicing as a National Resource Centre for empowerment of persons with multiple disabilities including those with, two or more disabilities listed in PWD Act. 1995 which includes Low vision, blindness, loco motor disability, hearing impairment, mental retardation, mental illness, leprosy cured, and as National Trust Act included in 1999 – Cerebral palsy, Autism. The objectives are given as below:
To undertake development of human resources for management, training, rehabilitation, education, employment and social development of persons with multiple disabilities.
