The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, established in 1984 has so far trained 10,000 professionals and personnel in 9 different long-term programmes recognized by RCI and affiliated to different Universities. NIMH has organized many international and national conferences. In the continuous rehabilitation education programmes, nearly 75,000 rehabilitation and health professionals, personnel and government officials participated. It has a team of highly qualified faculty members and specialists of various disciplines who are engaged not only in these HRD activities but also in the research and development programmes, some of which are in collaboration with international organizations.
